A Message to Providers From Keesha and Jordan:
When you have a client in need of a higher level of care we seek to work in partnership and collaboration in your client’s treatment. We understand clients are only with us for a short period of time so our intention is to involve you in every aspect of your client’s care. The goal is to work together to help your client make progress in their recovery story and empower your work in the outpatient setting.
Our hope is to honor the trust you’ve placed in us to support your client’s eating disorder recovery, and build upon the important work you’ve already done in the outpatient setting. Your clinical insight and the trust you’ve cultivated with your client is invaluable.
We believe individuals suffering with eating disorders are more likely to thrive in recovery when their providers are aligned, their care is continuous, and clinical insights from those who know them best are integrated into eating disorder treatment.
Throughout the webpage below we share our commitments regarding how we will work with you before, during, and after your client’s time with us as well as what you can expect from us when you trust us with a referral.
For Us It Is About Trust
We believe our field is built on trust and relationships. We seek to be connected with providers throughout the country to earn their trust and build collaborative relationships. So we carve out extensive amounts of time each week to meet with providers, listen to the needs of our field and learn how we can continue to be a resource in our communities.

Our Commitments to You, Our Provider Partners
1. YOUR LEVEL OF CARE RECOMMENDATIONS WILL BE HONORED
As the primary clinical relationship for your client, you know your client’s needs at the time of referral. Your recommendation reflects a nuanced understanding of their symptoms and readiness for treatment. Our team values your insight and expertise, and will make every effort to honor your level of care recommendation.*
2. YOUR INSIGHT WILL INFORM TREATMENT PLANNING FOR YOUR CLIENT
We believe treatment goals should be informed by the full context of your client’s recovery story, not just what’s apparent at the time of referral or observable during our assessment. That’s why we view your input not as supplemental but as essential, enabling care that’s clinically aligned, responsive to your client’s needs, and grounded in the progress you’ve already made together. Our teams will engage with you at the beginning of treatment to gather your thinking on treatment goal setting for your client.
3. OUR COLLABORATION WILL CONTINUE DURING TREATMENT
Your continued involvement during your client’s time in our care is critical to treatment continuity. We’ll regularly communicate with you regarding your client’s progress and challenges throughout treatment. We also encourage bridge sessions to create alignment between teams, reinforce treatment goals, and support smoother transitions into and out of care. Bridge sessions can occur at any time during the treatment process and can be facilitated in person or virtually.
4. YOU WILL BE INVOLVED IN DISCHARGE PLANNING FOR SMOOTH REINTEGRATION
As the end of your client’s time in treatment approaches, we’ll work with you to ensure you have all essential clinical information to support their transition. Your input on next steps is valued and helps us determine the most appropriate follow-up, whether your client is returning to your care or stepping into another level of support.
5. YOU CAN EXPECT ONGOING, STRUCTURED FOLLOW-UP
Once your client has been discharged from Alsana, our team will maintain connection with you and remain available as a clinical partner. Regular follow-up communication allows us to stay informed on your client’s progress and continue supporting your ongoing work together.
We Work Together With You
1. Pre-Treatment
When you refer a client to our services a member of our admissions team will gather your level of care recommendation based on your experience and assessment of the client. As your client moves through the admission process we will collaborate with you on how to keep them motivated and engaged to take the step into treatment.
2. Treatment Planning and Goal Setting
Treatment planning begins with close collaboration between you, any other outpatient providers on your client’s team, and our multidisciplinary team. Together, we review assessment findings, share insights, and align on goals to ensure continuity and cohesion.
Then we’ll build a personalized treatment plan that will support your client as they move through this phase of their recovery story.
3. Collaboration During Treatment
Treatment plans are not meant to be static; they evolve based on each client’s progress and any emerging needs. Regular evaluations allow our care team to adjust interventions, ensuring that the approach remains responsive and effective.
Our treatment teams will communicate with you regarding your client’s progress and any challenges that come up during treatment. We also strongly encourage and offer bridge sessions so your client can continue benefiting from the trusting relationship you’ve built. We see this as a collaborative effort to support their goals.
4. Discharge Planning
Discharge planning is a comprehensive process that begins early in your client’s stay with us and is designed to ensure individuals transition smoothly from our program and back into their work with you.
Our team will partner with you as your client’s discharge nears to ensure you are equipped with all critical clinical information so the client can easily transition back into your care. We will collaborate with you on
- Personalized transition planning supported by bridge sessions
- Aftercare coordination
- Relapse-prevention strategies
- Family and support system involvement
5. Ongoing Follow-Up
Once your client leaves our care, we will stay in touch with you, initially after one month and again on a regular basis so that we can stay connected in your client’s progress and continue to support you and your client in their recovery story.

FAQs About Eating Disorders and Adolescents
Families and supportive others will be integrated into the therapeutic process to enhance the recovery journey, without the expectation of constant involvement. Their participation may include specific sessions, group activities, or even meal support when clinically appropriate and determined by the care team. This ensures their involvement is purposeful and aligns with the client’s unique needs and treatment goals.
