How Can I Tell If An Online Eating Disorder Treatment Is Right For Me?

Flexible, online eating disorder treatment in Los Angeles makes it well-suited to support unique individuals who:

  • are transitioning from a higher level of care.
  • are seeking early intervention to avoid needing a higher level of care in the future.

Sara Mischler, LPC

Sara Mischler’s career has been anything but ordinary—she’s traveled across the country, working with diverse populations and gaining a wealth of experience that has shaped her into the dynamic clinician she is today. Since joining Alsana in 2021 as the Director of Clinical Services for the virtual PHP and IOP programs, Sara has been dedicated to providing compassionate, accessible care to individuals struggling with eating disorders.
Her journey began with a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University, launching her into a career that has taken unexpected yet rewarding turns. From supporting children and adolescents in Chicago to helping individuals with disabilities secure stable housing in New Mexico, and even working in a prison psychiatric unit in Texas, Sara has seen firsthand the resilience of the human spirit.
It wasn’t until she entered the eating disorder field that she realized how deeply diet culture had influenced her own beliefs about food, movement, and self-care. Since then, it’s been like learning a whole new language—one that has reshaped her understanding of wellness beyond step counts, calorie labels, and societal expectations. Today, she is passionate about helping others break free from these narratives and discover a more compassionate, balanced approach to health.
When she’s not leading the charge in Alsana’s Virtual Treatment Program, you can find Sara enjoying time with her family, exploring new places, or diving into a great book.

She has worked in a variety of professional settings outside Alsana, including private practice, residential substance abuse treatment, intensive outpatient programs addressing domestic violence anger management/parenting concerns, military bases, women’s health centers, academic settings, and hospitals.

Outside of eating disorders, she specialized in the areas of trauma, substance abuse, family/relational conflict, family of origin issues, and women’s issues. Madalyn is passionate about working with families who love someone with an eating disorder and have experience being the Family Program Coordinator at an inpatient addiction treatment center. Madalyn is drawn to humanistic approaches that aim to find the good in all of us and build on our strengths. She also aims to be human herself and knows that at Alsana, you don’t have to recover alone.

Kristen Tritt, LCSW

Kristen is an Associate Clinical Social Worker specializing in the treatment of eating disorders from a person-first, strengths-based perspective. With over 10 years in social services, she brings with her a wealth of experiences contributing to her work as a therapist. Kristen has devoted the last five years of her career to gaining experience in the field of eating disorders working at some of the most prominent clinics in the Los Angeles area.

Kristen operates from a values-based approach to help clients guide themselves towards a life that is free from cognitive dissonance and more centered around their authentic selves. She has expertise in treating comorbid trauma and substance use disorders. Kristen is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and uses this therapy and other trauma-informed approaches such as TF-CBT and a narrative approach to work towards detangling unhelpful or problematic cognitive patterns.

She also incorporates mindfulness, somatic work, and DBT to help patients access their own internal capacity to regulate and cope. Kristen understands the nuanced process that is required in the treatment of eating disorders. Working from a holistic, person-in-environment approach helps her to guide clients in their own process of self-determination. She believes that the value of the therapeutic alliance, working in harmony and compassion, inspires healing for those who are recovering. The goal, then, is that clients develop a sense of their own autonomy, individuality, and authentically empowered self.
