Spring is a season marked by growth, healing, and hope. This movement towards becoming, though, isn’t linear and can’t be rushed. Similarly, eating disorder recovery happens uniquely for each individual, quietly, courageously, and in its own time.

Like spring, healing doesn’t arrive all at once. Instead, it unfolds slowly, petal by petal and chapter by chapter.

At Alsana, we often say, You deserve flowers—a phrase that directly reflects how we approach care. You deserve to be supported, nourished, and met with compassion at every stage of your recovery. With support from your loved ones and treatment team, we want you to always trust in the possibility of growth, even when it feels far away.

Your Recovery Story is Still Being Written

We guide each client through care using the Recovery Story clinical framework, where they are supported as both the author and narrator of their own healing. During treatment, we emphasize the dignity, agency, and personalization of each journey. This approach recognizes that recovery is not one-size-fits-all and allows us to honor and support each person’s story. We view recovery through the following chapters, holding space for every beginning, setback, growth, and renewal.

Prologue

Like the first signs of spring, the Recovery Story begins with a gentle opening: an opportunity to pause, reflect, and begin again. Here, each individual is welcomed into care and supported in setting intentions, like planting something new and preparing the soil for what’s to come.

Chapter One

In Chapter One, early growth begins to take shape. With care and attention, clients start to understand the patterns behind their eating disorder, gently separating their identity from the illness as they learn what needs nourishment and what no longer serves.

Chapter Two

As the season shifts, Chapter Two invites clients to tend to their recovery in a more active way. With support, they begin practicing new ways of showing up. They learn to receive nourishment, build routines, and allow space for growth, much like a flower reaching toward sunlight.

Chapter Three

In Chapter Three, growth becomes more visible, like a flower finally in bloom. Clients strengthen their connection to recovery, continuing to nurture what supports them while gently letting go of what doesn’t, building confidence with each step forward.

Epilogue

The epilogue reflects a season of continuation, where growth is carried forward through a transition to the level of care or out of treatment. With continued support, clients step into greater independence while staying rooted in the work they’ve done.

Let Recovery Bloom

Taking the first step toward recovery—for yourself or a loved one—can feel daunting, especially in moments of uncertainty. But you don’t need to have all the answers, and you don’t need to wait until things feel worse to begin. You are worthy of treatment now. Reaching out is simply a beginning. One small, meaningful act towards growth.

With the right support, in the right environment, healing begins to take root, and over time, it blooms.
