Samantha Calcaterra, RD, LDN

Director of Regional Outreach | she/her/hers

As Director of Regional Outreach in the St. Louis, Missouri region, Sam helps connect healthcare professionals with Alsana to ensure their clients can access life-saving eating disorder treatment. Sam attended Indiana University-Bloomington for her undergrad and completed her Dietetic Internship at Ingalls, now UChicago Medicine Ingalls.

She is a registered dietitian, has worked in a variety of eating disorder settings and is skilled in nutrition and healthcare outreach. She is thrilled to return to the field of behavioral health. When talking about behavioral health and Alsana, Sam says, “I feel that this is life changing work. I feel more connected to eating disorders and behavioral health than I do with other areas of traditional healthcare. And although as a society we are getting much more comfortable talking about mental health, I feel that there is still significant stigma when it comes to eating disorders and I want to help change the narrative.”

Sam’s hobbies include playing with her dog, Walter, cooking new Indian and Thai recipes, reading, and enjoying the outdoors with friends and family. She recently went glamping and hiking in Acadia National Park, dreams of visiting Norway, and her favorite mode of self-care is cooking with a glass of wine while watching Netflix. We are thrilled to have such an experienced, passionate leader to help more clients access eating disorder treatment!
