FLEXIBLE EVENING HOURS FILL A NEED FOR STUDENTS IN EATING DISORDER RECOVERY
Alsana is excited to announce new, flexible evening hours for Intensive Outpatient Care at our Santa Barbara location.
This level of care is appropriate for clients who require more therapy than typically provided in a general outpatient setting and are able to make progress with moderate structure and support.
Helping College Students in Recovery
One of the most common reasons for a young adult or working professionals to discontinue or delay treatment for disordered eating is the desire to remain in – and excel at – school. Unfortunately, we know that the longer one goes without treatment, the more difficult the road to a full recovery. We also know that the college experience can be full of triggering events for those with an eating disorder and co-occurring disorders.
In Alignment with Alsana’s Adaptive Care Model™ and our striving to meet clients where they are, we are expanding evening hours in Santa Barbara to allow students and others to receive holistic treatment without having to sacrifice their academic aspirations.
Eating Disorder Treatment Should Not Be Delayed
College students are especially vulnerable to developing dangerous eating habits, as they may find themselves facing multiple, major life changes simultaneously while learning to cope in a competitive academic environment.
Eating disorders have one of the highest mortality rates of any psychiatric disorder, and treatment should not be delayed. Without adequate treatment, nutrition, mental well-being, and overall health suffer, sometimes leading to irreversible damage to major organs. If you or someone you know is struggling, please contact us today.

Alsana’s Adaptive Care Model™
The Adaptive Care Model™ was developed by a group of industry experts at Alsana, an eating disorder recovery community, working together to create a comprehensive, integrated model for eating disorder treatment centered on total health for each client.
This model is built on the belief that full recovery is possible when an individual is approached collaboratively with compassion and has the opportunity to receive evidence-based treatment. The model treats the whole person, addressing five dimensions through an integrated approach: Therapeutic, Nutritional, Medical, Movement, Relational.
The intensive outpatient program track includes group participation on topics such as skill development, and body image issues, nutritional education, art therapy, a weekly session with a registered dietitian, educational life skills sessions, and one to two sessions a week with their primary therapist.
