Kalysta N. Holder, BS

As Program Manager for Alsana, Kalysta Holder is responsible for supporting the operational aspects of Santa Barbara’s Residential, Outpatient, and Intensive Outpatient programs. Kalysta earned her bachelor’s of science degree in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Minor in Applied Psychology. 

Before coming to Alsana, Kalysta worked with toddlers on the Autism spectrum providing Pivotal Response Treatment to aid in the development of social and communicative growth.

In her free time, Kalysta enjoys cooking, crafting, and going to the beach. Kalysta also loves trying new restaurants with friends and family. She enjoys reading and educating herself on a wide variety of social justice concerns and systemic inequalities and strives to work towards a more equitable future.

Laura Gransberry, LMFT

As the Lead Therapist for Alsana in Santa Barbara, Laura Gransberry is responsible for the clinical supervision of the primary therapists, oversight of the clinical cadence of daily programming, and supporting clients on their recovery journey. Laura Gransberry earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she majored in Psychology. Laura received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Seattle, Washington.

Laura has worked with clients and families struggling with eating disorders for over ten years. Before joining the Alsana team, Laura worked at several facilities, at all levels of care.

Before returning to her hometown in Santa Barbara, Laura treated clients in her private practice in Seattle, Washington, for two years. In her free time, Laura enjoys going to the beach as much as possible and spending time with her family. Laura is most passionate about her clients and guiding them on their journey to recovery. Laura finds fulfillment in finding gratitude for life’s everyday moments and laughing every day.

As Charge Nurse for Alsana’s Santa Barbara programs, Juliana is responsible for educating and supporting clients through the physical healing process and working hand in hand with the multidisciplinary treatment team to provide holistic care. Juliana earned her vocational nursing degree from Career Care Institute.

Before coming to Alsana, Juliana worked in behavioral health, addictions, and case management. In her free time, Juliana enjoys listening to music, petting a fur baby, and spending time in nature.

Juliana is most passionate about spreading kindness and positively contributing to the planet and finds fulfillment in supporting fellow humans through the roller coaster of life and having meaningful moments during the process. Their background also includes working as a mental health case manager, addictions health and wellness nurse and medication clinic supervisor.

Joshua Ramsey, AMFT

Josh is the Primary Therapist with Alsana’s Santa Barbara team. He has the honor of collaborating with a talented and creative group of therapists to develop innovative and evidence-informed approaches to eating disorder treatment.

Josh has received two Masters degrees from Fuller Theological Seminary, an M.S. in Marital and Family Therapy, and a Master of Divinity with a concentration in Recovery Ministry. Josh has been in the professional field of psychotherapy since 2015.

Josh has a wide range of experience, having worked as an in-home therapist, a school-based therapist, as well as an outpatient therapist. Josh has worked with individuals and families from all walks of life.

When he is not at the office, Josh spends a lot of time with his partner Angel and their two children-Emerson, who is three, and Juniper who is one. Josh is an avid coffee-guy and will often be seen with a diner mug of coffee in his hand. He is curious about spirituality, nature, and sports; he spends time reading and listening to podcasts about these subjects.

Gastonia, NC is Josh’s birthplace and where he grew up. He now loves the West Coast and one of his favorite activities is to watch the sun set over the epic California landscapes.

Brad Zehring, DO

Brad Zehring has a personal connection with recovery and more than six years of eating disorder therapy experience. He now serves in the role of Psychiatrist in Santa Barbara, supporting Alsana’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Margherita Mascolo, MD, CEDS, who he considers to be a professional role model and mentor. Brad developed a passion for helping clients with eating disorders while supporting his wife through the recovery process.

Brad earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Arizona State University, and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Midwestern University – Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine.

“I feel fortunate to be invited into a process that is such a courageous, personal journey for patients,” Brad says. “The fact that I get to partner in their journey is something I do not take lightly.”

Justin Littleton

As Program Director for Alsana, Justin is responsible for the operations of Santa Barbara’s Residential, Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient programs, including staffing, program adherence to policy and procedure, milieu management, and scheduling. Justin earned their bachelor’s in science in biopsychological science from the University of California: Santa Barbara.

Before coming to Alsana, Justin worked in a variety of mental health settings, including the counseling center at his college, with folks on the spectrum working on ways to improve social capabilities, in outpatient adolescent settings, and as a crisis worker for LGBTQ+ populations.

In their free time, Justin enjoys exploring the beautiful outdoors of Santa Barbara with his loved ones, traveling reading and writing, being silly, and finding joyful ways to move with his supportive others. Justin is most passionate about working with our LGBTQ+ clients and clients working to restore their relationship with movement.

As our regional partner in pride and movement liaison, Justin works passionately with our clients to restore their relationship with movement. Similarly, Justin helps our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning clients find empowerment in their gender and sexual identities and how they can use them to inform recovery rather than prolonged engagement in their eating disorder.

Christina Kelley, ACSW, MBA

Christina earned her MSW from the University of Southern California concentrating in macro social work, and she earned her MBA from Antioch University Santa Barbara with a focus on social business. Before coming to Alsana, Christina worked on leadership teams in outpatient treatment settings, and as business services director in a women’s residential addiction treatment program.

In her free time, Christina enjoys writing and recording rock music and inspiring her two children who love to do the same.

Christina is most passionate about innovations to address homeless youth problems and finds fulfillment in participating in street outreach activities with those young people. Her background also includes being an associate clinical social worker, a licensed addictions treatment counselor, and a trained EMDR therapist.

As Primary Therapist for Alsana, Sam is responsible for helping people shed light on how eating disorders affect their internal and external world and caring for clients’ emotional well-being. Sam earned her Master’s of Science degree in Marriage and Family therapy from California State University, Northridge.

Before serving as Primary Therapist, Sam worked at Alsana as a direct care counselor and group therapist, further enriching her experience working with clients in treatment. In her free time, Sam enjoys trying new restaurants, going to musicals and concerts, and relaxing at home with her cat and a good book.

Sam is passionate about being an advocate for clients in her work and spreading awareness about the health at every size movement and the harmfulness of diet culture to our physical and mental well-being.

As a Registered Dietitian for Alsana, Genevieve is responsible for helping clients make peace with food and their bodies and discover a healthy relationship with food. She finds great joy in being a part of each client’s journey to food freedom in which they break away from food rules and food judgments to embrace life fully.

Genevieve earned her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Bradley University. She then completed her Dietetic Internship and Master of Science Public Health Nutrition from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Genevieve worked at an IOP eating disorder facility throughout graduate school.

In her free time, she enjoys going to musicals, spending time on the beach, traveling, and cuddling with her cat.

Elijah Eckert-Smith

As National Relational Coordinator for Alsana, Elijah Eckert-Smith is responsible for facilitating and implementing best practices for our Relational Program company-wide, and assessing and monitoring relational practices and growth in quality of treatment. Elijah earned his Master’s degree from Pacifica Graduate Institute in the discipline of Depth Psychology and is currently completing work on his Ph.D. in the field.

Before coming to Alsana, Elijah worked as a Mental Health Recovery Specialist and Personal Service Coordinator for varying mental health recovery programs. In his free time, Elijah enjoys traveling, reading philosophy, playing basketball, and spending quality time with his wife Joann and child Joey.

Elijah is most passionate about seeking meaning in the deeper aspects of life and society and finds fulfillment in working alongside clients with developing their spiritual beliefs and creative fulfillment. His background also includes being a Certified Archetypal Astrologer, and he is currently seeking certification in Spiritual Counseling.

    disorder were addressed. This has proven to be essential in my treatment at Alsana and also in my daily life as a member of society.
