The Saint Louis Eating Disorders Network (SLEDN) was founded in 1987 by Patricia Kyle Dennis, a beginning psychotherapist who wanted to specialize in eating disorders. At one of the few training events available at the time, she became aware of the lack of organized support for treatment professionals trying to cope with a fast-growing epidemic. She asked a colleague, Jeanne Juliet, to help assemble a steering committee to build an organization that could fill the void.

For many years, SLEDN was a non-profit corporation with a hard-working board and committees. Volunteers put a great deal of money, time and energy into identifying needs and completing projects that benefited professionals, patients, and the community.

More than 25 years later, SLEDN continues as a voluntary peer-clinical presentation group for all healthcare professionals that meets on the 1st Friday of every month from 9am-10:30am. Graduate students/ trainees are especially welcomed.  SLEDN’s agenda is not marketing; it is health care. There are no dues nor commitment to attend SLEDN’s monthly clinical presentations, designed to help enhance the effectiveness of eating disorders therapist or professional.
