As a primary therapist for Alsana, AJ is inspired daily by her clients’ strength, passion, and resilience. She believes that it is her privilege to walk with individuals as they reconnect to lost aspects of themselves. Her goal is to help them utilize their innate gifts to pursue their own sense of purpose and inner authority. AJ believes that working with individuals struggling with ED is a soul calling. She has been fortunate to have the opportunity to work with this population therapeutically both in the US and abroad.
Before coming to Alsana, AJ worked in a private practice setting and helped facilitate and dispatch emergent care at a suicide hotline. She was so moved by Alsana’s goals around their Relational Program that she left her home and practice in Georgia to move to Monterey and join the team. As an on-site relational ambassador, AJ particularly enjoys leading groups that help clients step outside of their inner worlds to connect to the importance of relationships and meaning-making on a macro scale.
AJ earned her bachelor’s from the University of Georgia, her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University, and her Masters in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Depth Psychology and hopes to use her doctoral research to explore the value of the unconscious in the treatment of eating disorders. In her spare time, AJ loves learning and practicing new ways of integrating the mind-body-spirit connection, is a podcast and audiobook junkie, and loves to spend the weekends outside in the sun and cooking for loved ones.
